CURRICULUM
Maths
Our aim is for every student to be a confident learner in maths who enjoys the subject and works with us to achieve their best.
We focus on building core skills and knowledge at key stage 3 before working towards a range of qualifications across the four areas of number, algebra, geometry and statistics.
All students work towards an AQA entry level certificate by the end of year 10. Students on a dual registered placement also work towards completing this while they are with us as it provides evidence that the key scaffolding to be successful at GCSE are in place.
Students then work towards AQA GCSE entry at foundation (1-5) or higher (4-9) tier depending on ability and confidence.
Whilst we do not routinely work towards functional skills (Pearson level 1/2), it is appropriate for some students to build confidence so can be taken in discussion with teaching staff.
